Purpose of the role:

Support the commercial divisions of Solutions APAC (Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Oceania) as an analyst and through the management of a team of sales administrators.

Work closely with the Commercial Director of Solutions APAC and support in managing Nature Portfolio projects including Nature Digest, natureasia.com website, and business systems and provide analytical support and input for both commercial projects and internal strategy building.

 

Key tasks:

  1. Management of sales support and project management team in Tokyo
    • Manage Solutions Sales Administration staff in Tokyo that covers pre-sales and contract management, project delivery of ad & sponsorship products (excluding editorial works), workshops and digital products (job postings, banners, and eTOCs) management and delivery, post-sales including invoices and revenue recognition, and general sales administrations.
    • Understand product line-ups and sales workflows to manage the support process.
    • Coordinate the workflow within the team to improve efficiency and build backup system to allow members to cover up for each other.
    • Keep the team well-informed about organizational goals and tactics.
    • Support personal development of direct reports.
  2. Management of Salesforce
    • Understand the Salesforce structure
    • Keep the team and sales reps well-informed of the structure and the input of data
    • Analyse data and generate reports
  3. Nature and Nature Digest project management and reporting
    • Manage P/L by tracking monthly revenues and working with finance to identify costs on a quarterly basis.
  4. Sales operations and analytics
    • Generate/update reports, databases and analytical works for circulations, sales amount and other activities conducted by the APAC Commercial Partnerships team.
    • Coordinate all system-related implementations and enhancements with Customer Services & Operations and Web Publishing. 
    • Manage inventory of journal samples and be the contact point for storage vendors to improve how journals and marketing materials are stored.
    • Contribute to the management of files, materials and other resources that are shared within the Solutions department.

 

Qualifications:

  • College education required

 

Skills/knowledge:

  • Strong communication skills preferably both in Japanese and English
  • Skills for analytical works by using Excel, and other data management tools
  • Ability to understand contracts and other legal documents
  • Knowledge about revenue recognition and tax
  • In-depth experience working with CRM/finance systems
  • Good oral and written presentation skills
  • Work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic and committed

 

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting sales and marketing, generating reports and analytical works using Microsoft Office and other data management tools.
  • Understanding of the publishing industry is a plus.
