SN Digital (SND) is the technology division of Springer Nature. We are responsible for maintaining and delivering millions of articles used by researchers, scientists and students around the globe. In the Researcher Engagement IT domain you will be working in an agile team that takes care of the 360° view on the researchers and the recommendations based on aggregated customer data
About The Role:
This role is a terrific opportunity for friendly, curious people who want to get involved in our work and develop our culture, and help make Springer Nature Digital a place where people and ideas can thrive. You’ll be “owning” the experience of two primary archetypes (internal users and customers) and you’ll aim to develop a coherent, user-focused experience that delivers a best-in-industry set of tools and services whilst helping foster a culture of innovation.
About You:
- You have an appropriate number of years of UX Design experience in a mid-level capacity.
- You have a UX portfolio (website or PDF) demonstrating critical thinking, analysis and sound decision-making as well as diverse UX methods and techniques.
- You have experience working with stakeholders and non-designers and have an empathetic, articulate and open communication style.
- You like working in a collaborative (remote and in-person) team, where there is collective ownership of the product.
- You enjoy getting involved with every stage of the UX lifecycle and are interested in planning UX strategies.
- You know your strengths and recognise opportunities to learn and improve.
Responsibilities :
Within 3 months
Get settled:
- Get to know SpringerNature as a business and the groups within it.
- Research - understand what's been done, context/history of it.
- Design - what the teams have been working on, how they do it and how it’s going.
- Meet the stakeholders, understand their experience/background/hopes.
- Begin to work with the team UX Lead and Senior UX Designer and get to know your UX peers/community.
Within 6 months
Be involved:
- Research - planning and conducting, sharing.
- Design prioritisation, review/crit, delivery, sharing. Keeping user-centred design part of the culture.
- Collaborating regularly with the UX Lead and Senior UX Designer.
- Giving support and direction to your team and getting involved if/where required.
- In the UX community as an active participant.
Within 12 months
Make a change and see your impact:
- Research - know where there are gaps and assumptions. You know the relative risk and potential effort of each that is clearly laid out in a plan for the foreseeable future.
- Design - is informed by research and the design system, any new elements and insights are fed back into the design system.
- Be involved in strategy planning sessions that help shape the product and its direction, by being the voice of, and expert on the user, through your design and research work.
- Learnings shared within your team, with the wider UX community and beyond.
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) - This is core to you and your team, you’re an advocate for DEI not just in what we deliver to our users but also in how we work together.
