Job Title: Senior Data Analyst

Location: Pune – Hybrid Working Model

 

About the Role

 

We want to be the best marketing team in the scientific publishing industry, helping the scientific community find the right outlet for their research, and so advancing discovery. As a senior data analyst, you will play a critical part in this journey, ensuring that our efforts and budget are as effective as possible.  You will be leading projects that support a global marketing team with offices around the world including UK, Germany, USA and China.  You will  be the marketing analytics lead in a strategic growth area for Springer Nature.  This will involve building relationships across different teams and business units, identifying projects which add the biggest value and ensuring your analytics work improves the impact and effectiveness of our marketing and customer engagement activities.  We highly value entrepreneurial thinking and a mindset to experiment and introduce new approaches. Springer Nature is a world-leading research, educational and professional publisher, providing quality content to our communities through a range of innovative platforms, products and services

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis of marketing and customer activity for ( one of the key growth areas in Springer Nature’s Open Access business.
  • Be the main analytics point of contact for key stakeholders in this area  
  • Lead projects to analyse the value of marketing and suggest potential solutions to improve its impact 
  • Be a technical expert in analytics with the ability to identify opportunities to evolve tools and techniques used across the team (including forecasting, scenario modelling and optimisation)
  • Play a key role in building, maintaining and improving a cutting-edge dashboard reporting infrastructure, including consistent KPIs and appropriate visualisations and data storytelling
  • Become a role model in the team for answering analytics questions, especially related to the return on investment of marketing campaigns 
  • You’ll work project-led and have a direct, measurable impact on the business
  • Provide data insights, knowledge, and recommendations for decision-making to senior management
  • Take an active part in preparing and quality-checking of data

 

Qualifications or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor’s degree / post graduate degree (STEM) or other degree with a strong quantitative analysis element

 

General Skills/knowledge

  • Ability to present complex results simply and comprehensively that stakeholders with a non-numerical background will immediately understand
  • Ability to think about issues and business questions with a creative approach, being able to come up with robust solutions
  • Ability to link different data sources and come up with an overall/overarching story
  • Ability to identify and tackle issues with missing or incomplete data
  • Able to break down problems and to address them systematically
  • Ability to prioritise tasks based on importance/urgency

 

Technical skills

  • Strong SQL or Python skills
  • Experience in working with Looker Studio (or other visualization tools) 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (advanced functions, VBA)
  • Experience in working with Google Analytics data
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques applicable to marketing measurement

 

Required Experience

  • Experience working as a data analyst, working with large data volumes 
  • Experience in applying statistical analysis to real-world data sets to reach clear conclusions
  • Experience in developing relationships and presenting results to senior stakeholders
