Purpose of the Role

 

This role is responsible for account development & events in India serving our larger strategic goals of expanding Open Access (OA) market share to become a market leader and positioning Springer Nature for future growth. Key purpose of the role is driving OA market growth by triggering sales leads and preparing upselling and OA opportunities with key accounts and educating customers on the transition to Transformative Agreements in the region. This role’s responsibilities include the planning, organizing and executing of an annual program of customer events and outreach, engagement activities to authors, and marketing for OA memberships. The role will work closely with the regional sales team ensuring optimal approach to customers is achieved . These activities include customer engagement via in-person visits, virtual meetings, pulling publication data, monitoring waiver rates per institution, marketing via local campaigns and promotion in coordination with new agreements, and live events including training, branding events, thought leadership events, onboarding events, etc.

 

Roles Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare OA Account Development Plan for the region in conjunction with Head of Account Development and licensing managers
  • Analyze market penetration, current OA agreements, and other useful metrics to develop / implement strategic plans geared towards maximizing OA market growth.
  • Foster Institutional Memberships success developing, onboarding, and monitoring publishing metrics and relationships with customers, triggering marketing & event activities as needed.
  • Develop and conduct OA customer focused training events and workshops to promote customer satisfaction and publication, resulting in renewal and revenue growth
  • Develop new marketing tactics and aligned analysis to best address the regional-specific issues faced by OA customers
  • Set annual in-person & virtual regional events plan with stakeholders (pivoting as required) including development of session topics, agenda setting, contact internal session leaders, set up session structure, prepare sessions, create final master deck, delivery meeting summary.
  • Manage the invitation process: Create invitation list in collaboration with the stakeholders, send invitations, reminders and manage all communication with participants.
  • Oversee logistics, i.e. hotel reservations, meeting spaces, meeting packages, transfers, social activities; ensuring that these all remain within corporate compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate internal/customer facing communication and technical support of the online events
  • Maintain CRM as it pertains to activities

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 years proven excellence in management of sales, marketing, or applicable work experience in electronic publishing, software or internet industry
  • Events planning and execution
  • Product and/or Library marketing experience preferred
  • OA experience a plus

  • Be creative, organized and exhibit initiative
  • Be customer-centric, demonstrate excellent entrepreneurial spirit, communication skills and a desire to work in a high-energy, goal-oriented environment
  • Work independently, manage multiple assignments simultaneously, anticipate required activities/tasks, and work according to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Proven to define and lead projects, experience in developing long-term product strategies & roadmaps.
  • Financially aware and analytical
  • Fluent spoken and written knowledge of English and Hindi
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently, approximately 25%

Qualifications

  • BA or similar degree in marketing or business
