Nature Neuroscience is recruiting an Associate or Senior Editor to join their editorial team. The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and will be based in our New York, London or Berlin office.

 

Nature Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes high-quality research papers in all areas of neuroscience and provides a highly visible forum for communicating important advances to a broad readership. The journal welcomes submissions in molecular, cellular, systems, computational and cognitive neuroscience that provide fundamental insights into the functioning of the nervous system and pathobiology of disease.

 

Members of the editorial team participate in all aspects of the editorial process including manuscript selection, overseeing the peer review process, and commissioning and editing News & Views, Reviews, Perspectives and Comments.

 

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Associate or Senior Editor with a strong background in neuroscience research. Candidates with a background in computational and/or systems neuroscience are particularly encouraged to apply.

 

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in neuroscience or a related discipline. 
  • A broad interest and training in science. You must be able to demonstrate the breadth of your interest in scientific research, both within and beyond your specialty.
  • The ability to critically evaluate research submitted to the journal, making well-reasoned editorial assessments on the basis of novelty, rigor and the implications of the research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • An eagerness to travel and meet scientists worldwide. A key aspect of the job involves liaising with the scientific community through attendance at scientific conferences and meeting with researchers via conference calls and on-site visits.

Annualized Base Salary Range: Associate Editor: $74,000 / Senior Editor: $91,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education and skill level.

For Berlin Applicants - Tarif Group K IV - KVI is applcable depending on experience.
