Lead Quality Analyst at SNDigital
We are looking for a Lead Quality Analyst who can help the development teams build quality from the ground up in all stages of our software delivery.
As a Lead QA you are expected to be the enabler and influencer of quality for your team to bring the focus on quality to the forefront of development. Interaction and collaboration with different roles and teams is more valued than finding bugs or writing test scripts and documenting test cases or test charters.
We are looking for a skilled and passionate QA to help us build a toolkit that supports the daily practice and lifelong learning for professionals and researchers who want to stay up to date, stay qualified, and/or solve a specific problem. We do this by providing reliable, personalized information, high-quality interactive content and tools, and continued education, anytime, anywhere.
We would love to talk to you if you have the following mindset and approaches:
- You will be the quality champion, and will plan, lead, visualise and follow-through on QA strategy, throughout the delivery process. You always communicate effectively within the team.
- You will think in a curious, critical, analytical way and take a generalist approach, equally interested in the UX research, the BA findings, the PM’s timelines, as with the risks to delivery of the overall product. You are skilled at sharing your thoughts and findings in these areas.
- You will be collaborative and value people over processes, even though you still do champion the improvement of processes and cycle times. You will be the “friendly pair” and actively engage in all aspects of the team from story level kickoffs and organising bug bashes, to participating in tech reviews and running retros or facilitating team discussions.
- You’ll promote a quality mindset throughout the team, prioritising prevention of bugs and defects over an approach where the team has to fix these later in the project, and always encouraging feedback and open communications
- You will keep the customer constantly in mind, seeking the bigger-picture perspective by better understanding their needs and views, and able to manage distributed stakeholders, users and applications
Within 3 months, you will:
- Begin to contribute:
- Develop a deep understanding of the programme of work
- Being hands-on to the QA activities of your project team
- Build relationships and understand the view of quality on the domain:
- with key technical and business stakeholders
- with your counterpart QAs in neighbouring teams
- with the other disciplines within your team (UX/BA/Devs)
- Start to identify gaps in the current QA strategy, and open discussions with your team on how these might best be addressed
- Identify opportunities for improvements in the QA skills within your domain, to aid lesser experienced colleagues to learn and grow.
Within 6 months, you will:
- Build a QA strategy collaboratively with your team/ technical lead/ fellow QAs from the gaps identified above
- Using this, align the QA team in the domain with the vision of quality you have managed to gain from the key stakeholders.
- Collaborate/Pair/Lead the QAs in your domain to build a common understanding of the scope of the QA strategy and how to execute it effectively
- Collaboratively share your progress and learnings with the wider QA community and the leadership team in your domain
Within a year, you will:
- Build a culture of quality from the ground up and ingrained within daily activities
- Collect feedback and iterate on the initial QA strategy and collaboratively come up with ways of improving it
- Get lead stakeholders and management on board with our strategic quality approach, and demonstrate how this improves the domain deliverables
- Mentor the QA team within the domain with the principles and skills required around a good QA strategy so that they can continue to improve it on their own.
Practical skills and experience that will be relevant in the Lead QA role:
- Experience with coaching/mentoring the team to build quality in from the start
- Good working knowledge of Lean/Kanban/Agile methodologies
- Strong understanding of technical architecture and how things work under the hood. You don’t have to write the code but should follow discussions well enough to be contributing and engaged.
- Knowledge of working in a CI/CD environment, with multiple releases per day – eg, using Jenkins, Go, Github, Dockerised tests
- Knowledge of monitoring tools - Grafana, New Relic, Kibana
- Experience with APIs and ability to write functional tests around them – REST APIs, Postman, Insomnia
- Experience in elevating the priority and visibility of non-functional requirements, using tools such as Snyk, Speedcurve, Gatling, Pa11y
The position is located in Lisbon/Berlin, but internal applications are welcome and will be considered in the candidates’ locations, should the candidate fulfil all the requirements for the role.
