This role is part of the Books Admin Team that provides operational support to our book publishing portfolios. We’re looking to recruit an energetic and highly organized graduate as an Assistant to join the newly created Books Admin Team.

 

The Admin Team Assistant provides a vital role in supporting the Books team by taking on responsibility for administrative support tasks arising during the book publishing process. Examples include ensuring that payments and complimentary copy requests are managed timely and efficiently, processing bulk orders and other tasks as determined by the needs of the group. As well as providing core support to the Editorial team, the role involves building excellent working relationships with internal colleagues and day-to-day administration.

Responsibilities

 

  • Database management
  • Liaising with colleagues in various departments, including Editorial, Comp Copy and Global Royalty
  • Liaising with external editorial stakeholders, including series editors
  • Managing, maintaining, and adapting Admin Team processes
  • Providing general administrative support and guidance for editors
  • Willingness to trouble shoot
  • Performing a wide range of administrative tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team

 

 Experience, skills and qualifications

 

  • Have excellent team-working skills to deal with people within the company and externally at all levels
  • Be a diplomatic and assertive individual who is able to work with demanding stakeholders
  • Be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and be able to work on their own initiative
  • Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queries
  • Be able to demonstrate good publishing business awareness and the ability to learn
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be numerate and IT systems-literate, with a sharp eye for detail
  • Preferably have experience working in academic publishing in an entry-level editorial role
