The role will ensure that developed projects fulfil the following criteria:

 

 

 

  • Technically perform to agreed standards across all devices

 

  • Report their analytics in a consistent and effective manner according to agreed standards

 

  • Remain supportable and maintainable throughout the lifecycle of the project regardless of the status of the initial developer

 

  • Are implemented using the most appropriate channel based on need and opportunity

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of software development tools, processes and languages.  Will be able to understand, conceive and communicate basic technical architecture concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.

 

 

The successful candidate will work with external developers and other teams within Springer Nature to ensure that we continue to select and utilise the most appropriate, performant and cost-effective technology platforms and languages to implement our customers digital projects in.

Desired skills and experience

 

 

  • Experience in programming and software development, with a preference for candidates who have worked in start-up or scale-up environments.

 

  • Experience in dealing with customers verbally and via email, setting appropriate expectations and ensuring deadlines are met

 

  • A good understanding of wordpress programming and development 

 

  • A good command of scripting languages, APIs and web development is essential.

 

  • Strong technical understanding of web and mobile applications/platforms

 

  • Ability to transform abstract ideas into a working proof of concept, to delivery on Production

 

  • Clearly communicate capabilities, opportunities, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences

 

  • Experience in understanding source data from various systems and platforms for data integration

 

  • Knowledge of React/VueJS/Angular or similar framework

 

  • A good understanding of database design

 

  • Strong technical leadership with excellent business acumen

 

  • Hands on knowledge of industry best practices in distributed system scaling, availability and latency

 

  • Experience with full development life cycle for software products including extensive experience with service oriented architectures, design patterns, and web applications / services development

 

  • Strong focus on customer obsession and excellent expectation management abilities

 

  • Excellent written & verbal communication / collaboration skills

 

  • Bachelor’s (Engineering) degree in Computer Science or related Information Technology field.

 

 

 

Added Skills (Nice-to-Have)

 

 

  • Grasp of functional programming techniques

 

  • No-SQL exposure along with RESTful web-services

 

  • Involvement in open source projects

 

  • Experience with scaling and performance tuning web applications
