This is a great opportunity for a Life Science graduate (Biomedical modules) with an interest in systems & technology to further their scientific knowledge whilst developing commercial experience within the publishing industry. This is a highly visible role within the organization and one which is key to our success within the reprints market and supporting our growth strategy in the service market. The role involves working closely with the wide variety of content published by Springer as well as maintaining strong links with our global offices across multiple departments.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying articles of interest to our pharmaceutical company customers. Content will be identified from Springer’s own portfolio of journals as well as our commercial partners’ publications, entered into our internal databases in a timely and accurate way, and disseminated to our global reprint sales teams. They will also be involved in the identification of industry experts and providing analysis from Salesforce to assist in teams making data-driven business decisions and actions.

 

 

The role includes the following responsibilities:

 

  • In conjunction with the Systems Project Manager, analyse data from Salesforce and SMART to produce KPI and sales analysis reports and make data driven recommendations to the business.
  • Support the Systems Project Manager on the future development of SMART and Salesforce including the development and implementation of Artificial Intelligence efficiencies where applicable.
  • Conduct desk research to support global sales teams, utilising using our internal databases and business intelligence products (e.g. market information, targeted content searches, drug pipeline reports, industry expert identification).
  • Develop expertise with our SMART and Salesforce systems to support global colleagues.
  • Rapidly scan journal, society meeting, publication and educational content to identify relevant reprint/reuse sales opportunities, key marketing messages and appropriate target clients.
  • Accurately enter content details into our bespoke internal database (SMART).
  • Produce weekly alerts detailing newly published saleable articles and relevant pharmaceutical news stories to support our global sales teams.
  • Support the maintenance and development of commercial partnerships with other publishers.

 

 

Person specification

 

Essential

 

  • A Life Sciences degree (Biomedical modules).
  • Proven ability to quickly take in and evaluate scientific data.
  • Demonstrates timely and accurate data entry skills.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy, with experience of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exhibits strong organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail.

 

Desirable

 

  • Previous experience of the pharmaceutical and/or publishing industry(s)
  • Knowledge of the drug development process /clinical research trials.
  • Presentation and training skills
