Purpose of the role:            

To manage the financial and management accounting processes for both NZ and Australia including but not limited to financial statement preparation, tax filings, monthly management account preparation, assist in payroll management and coordinating contract renewals.


Key tasks:


  • Manage the month end accounts preparation for NZ including:
  • Month end close of Business Central system
  • Loading P&Ls into Hyperion/SAP for group consolidation
  • Overseeing the month end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing the monthly standard cost calculations and charges to Group
  • Overseeing intercompany balance reconciliations
  • Manage the month end accounts preparation for Australia including:
  • Month end close of Business Central system
  • Loading P&Ls into Hyperion/SAP for group consolidation
  • Overseeing the month end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overseeing intercompany balance reconciliations
  • Developing and preparing cost reports for the different cost centres
  • Manage the filing of taxes for both NZ and Australia such as PAYE, PAYG, GST, FBT, Payroll Tax and workers compensation
  • Manage the preparation of NZ monthly department reports, including commentary to be sent to managers
  • Prepare the NZ site management report including commentary


Budgets and Forecasting

  • Managing the preparation of the forecasts and budget for NZ and Australia within corporate deadlines


Year End and Tax

  • Preparation and filing of the year end reporting pack as required by corporate in Hyperion, including tax calculations and reconciliations for NZ and overseeing the process for Australia
  • Preparation of the statutory financial statements for NZ within agreed timeline with Ernst & Young auditors.
  • Manage the preparation of the financial statements for Australia.
  • Preparation of provisional tax calculations for New Zealand and Australia and arranging appropriate payments/transfers.
  • Prepare year-end tax estimates for New Zealand and Australia and liaise with Ernst & Young for review and filing



  • Manage the environmental reporting tasks for NZ and Australia as required by Group
  • Manage the Statistics reports for both NZ and Australia
  • Any other tasks as required from time to time



  • Preparation of information in advance of lease renewals and OPEX estimates from lessor
  • Overseeing of facilities tasks assigned to Administration Assistant
  • Manage the insurances renewal process


Any other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications and Experience:


CA/CPA qualified



  • 3-4 years corporate accounting experience.
  • Preparation of Statutory Accounts Under IFRS
  • Preparation of tax calculations, for IFRS and tax returns
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Strong reconciliation skills



  • Being able to relate the financial detail to the business and communicate this through to the team
  • Accurate and methodical worker with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders such auditors, banks, internal and foreign related parties, tax consultants, governance teams.
  • Experience with Australian reporting requirements an advantage but not required
  • Good Excel knowledge.
