Job title:                      Director Finance Japan

Line Manager:             EVP Financial Reporting & Accounting

Location:                     Tokyo, Japan

 

Purpose of the role:     

Management of the local finance and accounting activities, providing financial guidance and being business partner to management and business units

 

Key tasks:

  • Manage and develop a team of experienced accountants.
  • Direct and overseeing the accounting activities, preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements and filings for external use.
  • Ensures that statutory reports, filings and documentation complies with company’s regulation, professional standards and GAAP
  • Ensure timely reporting to the Group at month/year-end at the highest quality and in line with group accounting standards.
  • Ensure statutory, and tax compliance/reporting and risk assessments for all legal entities at any time.
  • Manage all record keeping and audit process within the framework set by Group Accounting, external auditor and government agencies.
  • Maintain and manage relation with external parties as e.g. banks, tax consultants and government bodies.
  • Work closely with group finance/tax function with regards to audit, tax, cash-flow and currency and risk management.
  • Drive and manage change of the Finance organization.
  • Estimating the impact of new accounting standards and other changes in accounting principles on the companies’ financial statements.
  • Follow changes in legislation to assess impact on the companies’ financial statements.
  • As part of the global compliance organization, manage compliance efforts, ensure strong Anti-Corruption, Bribery and risk management procedures.
  • Advise non-Finance colleagues of financial requirements and group policies, and help them interpret financial information they receive.

 

Key relationships:

  • Internal: Financial Accounting & Group Accounting departments, Management Reporting Planning & Analysis Department, Overseas local entity finance departments, Global Tax team, Treasury and IT/ Finance Solutions.
  • External: Banks, tax consultant, auditors, government bodies

 

Qualifications:

  • Qualified chartered accountant through recognised international qualification

 

Skills/knowledge:

  • A strong technical accountant with passion for well-organized administration, process discipline, controls, training and best practice in Finance.
  • A manager who is able to handle complex issues and multiple projects simultaneously and manage tight deadlines.
  • A commercial minded Finance professional with an intuitive grasp of business economics and business strategy.
  • An independent employee required least supervision and used to remote management and working in a global international organization/environment.
  • An excellent communicator, including clear, imaginative and persuasive presentation and influencing skills. Fluent in English and Japanese is mandatory.
  • Very good knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS.
  • Knowledge of SAP Fi (ideally S4/HANA) a plus.

 

Experience:

  • Proven team management skills with track record of successful month-/year-end closing to tight deadlines.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving through organizational changes.
