Nature Research is a flagship portfolio of journals, products and services including Nature and the Nature-branded journals, dedicated to serving the scientific community.

Position: Nature Aging is looking for an Associate or Senior Editor to join its editorial team.

Location: New York, Berlin, London, Washington DC, or Madrid- Hybrid Working Model

Nature Aging publishes research on aging and age-related diseases across the spectrum of the life, clinical and social sciences. The journal brings together researchers who study the biology of aging and the diseases of aging, clinicians focusing on diseases and conditions that primarily affect older adults and researchers addressing the socio-economic challenges and opportunities associated with population aging. A unifying goal across the content published in the journal is to produce knowledge and understanding that can be used to improve human health and well-being in aging.

The range of topics and disciplines covered includes (but is not limited to): genetics, epigenetics and genomics of aging and longevity, cellular senescence, rejuvenation and tissue repair, aging physiology, translational research on age-related diseases, clinical research (observational, interventional, biomarker, public and global health) focused on older adults and/or diseases and conditions associated with aging (e.g. dementia, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, immunosenescence, frailty), and research on the socio-economic aspects of aging in society.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an academic journal that uniquely offers a fully cross-disciplinary picture of aging research.

Applicants should have a PhD in one of the many disciplines that are part of the scope of the journal and a desire to learn about aging research more broadly.

The successful candidates will work closely with the Chief Editor and the rest of the editorial team on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and peer review, the commissioning and editing of comments, reviews and opinion articles, and also writing for the journal. Nature Aging is part of a dynamic editorial and publishing environment that also includes Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Cancer, Nature Metabolism and Nature Neuroscience.

This is a demanding and intellectually stimulating position. Broad scientific knowledge and training, excellent literary skills, the ability to absorb new areas of research, and a keen interest in the practice and communication of science are all required. Applicants should be dynamic, outgoing and have excellent interpersonal skills. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences — willingness to travel is essential.

The position will be based in one of our international offices: in New York, London, Berlin, Madrid or Washington DC.

To apply:

  • Please submit a CV and cover letter explaining your interest in the position and your salary expectations
  • A Research Highlight (250-400 words) on a recent peer-reviewed research paper that you think would be of high interest to the journal’s audience. The highlight should explain the significance and implications of the research to someone who is not a specialist in the subject.

Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and should arrive no later than September 5th 2022.
