Position: Associate or Senior Editor- Nature Immunology and Nature Microbiology

Nature Immunology and Nature Microbiology are premier journals publishing papers of the highest quality and significance in all areas of immunology and microbiology, respectively.  Owing to expansion of our journals we are seeking a highly motivated individual, ideally with a strong interest in immunology and microbiology, to join our teams as an Associate/Senior Editor. The successful candidate will work across both titles and act as a representative for Nature Microbiology and Nature Immunology in both communities. They will be championing research at the interface between these two fields, especially infectious diseases and immune responses to microorganisms, and should feel comfortable working across a range of different areas within the broad scopes of both journals.

 

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Editors, and have an important role in shaping both journals. They will handle original research papers and work closely with other editors from both teams on every aspect of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review. They will commission and edit Comments, Reviews and News & Views and write for the journals. They will recommend editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice and through discussion with other members of the teams.

 

A key feature of the job is interaction with the scientific community, including attending international conferences. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic communicator, have excellent interpersonal skills and be prepared to travel as may be required.

 

The successful candidate will need a strong track record of research in microbiology or immunology and ideally both

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree

Editorial experience is not required, although applicants with previous editorial experience are encouraged to apply

 

This role can be located in either our New York, London, Berlin, Heidelberg or Madrid office on a hybrid working model. The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

Annualized Base Salary Range for Associate Editor: $74,000 and Senior Editor: $91,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education and skill level.
