Purpose of the role       

The BDM is a global role, working to build and deliver a strong pipeline of custom publishing and licensing projects across all markets, Supporting GPS on investment opportunities through negotiation, execution, due diligence, and valuation.

This role will access finance/legal for recommendations viability to support GDP’s decision.

The role is responsible for business development, exploring new business models specially for Custom and proposing value added bundled solutions for our customers on top of regular customization, this is assisting and identifying potential opportunities.

across the markets to offer customized and/or additional products or services to new or existing customers to increase revenues, licensing, and direct royalty income.

The BDM will also take responsibility of DASHBOARDS/REPORTS on CUSTOM/LICENSING and PARTNERSHIP REVENUE.

Work closely with GPD and Local Commercial Directors to ensure smooth handover of customized/licensed product once the agreement has been signed.

 

Responsibilities

•             Key tasks for Custom Publishing and licensing

•             Work together with CPLM ensuring that objectives are aligned with the business priorities

•             To define the objectives for the custom publishing/licensing department, including business strategies and operational models

•             To work with the regional teams (commercial Directors) to develop a pipeline of opportunities for custom and licensing projects

•             In cooperation with regional teams, to develop and shape education-based proposals (publishing, services and licensing) that meet the needs of new and existing customers and deliver profit to the company

•             Together with CPLM be accountable for the deliverables within the Custom Publishing department, to ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within budget, and to an appropriate level of quality

•             To work closely with the CPLM to ensure that the Custom Publishing and regional pipelines and publishing resources are aligned

•             International Market Director/Commercial Director – exploring and securing customized/licensing opportunities

•             Custom Publishing and Licensing Manager – pear

•             Custom Publishing and Licensing Team – indirect line

•             Other internal departments: Production, Digital, Operations, Rights, Finance, Marketing and Legal

 

Qualifications

•             Educated to degree level or equivalent

 

Skills/knowledge

•             Demonstrable knowledge of multiple ELT markets

•             Good commercial awareness and the ability to create and manage project P&Ls and understand how these input into company profitability

•             The ability to negotiate with internal (sales) and external customers (markets) ; apply commercial acumen to ensure projects deliver value for money

•             Detailed understanding of ELT and/or educational publishing processes and best practice for both print and digital products, and ability to create and implement new processes

•             Experience or demonstrable track record of having worked in a global, commercial role to deliver on business targets (e.g., business development or business growth)

•             ABILITY TO BUILD A SALES PIPELINE/OPPORTUNITIES IN COLLABORATION WITH REGIONAL TEAMS

•             The ability and readiness to make presentations to management and to staff, as directed

•             Flexible approach and the ability to adapt to changing environments

•             The ability to set and respond to extremely challenging schedules and deadlines

•             Strong organizational skills

 

Experience

•             Experience of working and negotiating with a wide range of people at varying levels of seniority

•             Experience of working and negotiating with Ministries of Education and preparing bids for tenders issued by Ministries of Education

•             Experience of working in a business development role

•             Extensive, market-focused publishing experience at project leadership level

•             Extensive project management experience across several complex commercial projects

•             Experience of working within a structured yet changing publishing environment
