Project Manager - Data Projects

About Us

We’re looking for a Project Manager to join Data.SN within Springer Nature Operations. You would be joining a programme of work to drive sustained change in how Springer Nature uses and understands its data: building up data capabilities to create a foundation for the future, adding value to cross-organisation initiatives and data-driven transformation.

 

The role is reporting to the Director of Data Transformation Programmes and can be based in London (UK), Berlin (Germany) or in Heidelberg (Germany). There will be travel at times with colleagues in many of our global offices.

About You

You are an organised, problem solver who knits teams together around a shared goal. You actively seek decisions and demonstrate the learning mindset that will help the team you’re on adapt to ever-changing situations.

 

You will have:

  • An existing track record of planning, delivering, and monitoring successful projects  working with small, cross-functional project teams as a Project Manager, Scrum Master, Delivery Lead or equivalent

  • Experience working with stakeholders and teams to define achievable backlogs of work from ideas

  • A strong understanding of servant leadership and driving delivery in agile and hybrid environments

  • A list of improvements that you’ve been responsible for in the way your current team, or project works

  • Past experience in helping teams find focus and where to start solving complex problems

  • A broad understanding of agile methodologies or frameworks and other industry standard project management tools

  • Experience facilitating teams in gathering and presenting information to clearly communicate technical context to non technical stakeholders

  • Good communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Key tasks:

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership and empowerment, bringing people together with a clear purpose 

  • Work with teams and stakeholders to define Project level OKRs, plan and manage work against them

  • Raise and address risks, issues to the project and work with the appropriate teams or individuals to mitigate them

  • Act as the facilitator to a team or working group, scheduling and supporting regular cadences of meetings or workshops that drive work forward

  • Mentoring the team on agile and lean principles & practices if needed

  • Management of stakeholders, inter-team relationships, and dependencies

  • Providing support and input to all aspects of the project – from business case through to delivering value for the business and it’s customers

  • Create artefacts that communicate, amongst other things, roadmaps, progress, risk, and opportunities at an appropriate level

  • You’ll sustain our culture of continuous improvement ensuring that business outcomes are delivered frequently, engineering and data quality are considered in their context and issues are addressed quickly #LI-CO1
