OA Book Partnerships Manager

Springer Nature seeks an OA Book Partnership Manager. This varied and unique position manages a range of partnerships in OA books, and is responsible for editorial and inter departmental liaison to project manage existing partnerships. The role undertakes leads development and customer negotiation to secure new partnerships and setup new agreements.

 

Purpose of the role: 

 

The OA Book Partnerships Manager generates leads from funders, NGOs and institutions open to OA Book publishing across the world to establish partnerships and publish OA Books

This role is also the key support to editorial teams who are commissioning OA series and bundles, conducting training and liaising with global editorial colleagues to support pitches, negotiations and facilitate agreement implementation. A further significant responsibility is to manage existing partnerships, maintaining account monitoring, customer communication and ensuring a smooth workflow.

 

Key tasks:

  • Overall responsibility for managing the OA Books Partnership program in STEM and HSS at Springer Nature with support from OA team colleagues
  • With regards to new institutional partnerships, identify target prospects for new partnerships and build customer relationships globally
  • Create and propose quotations in line with company strategy and seek approval from management where needed
  • Negotiate pricing and manage the setup of agreements with customers, including licensing, invoicing and workflow, with support from internal teams
  • Report regularly to manager, OA Books and other commercial teams to inform of developments and share leads
  • Influence and feed into commercial strategy of the OA Books program and be involved in forecasting process
  • Attend key OA (books) industry events and visit customers (when appropriate and as required)
  • Attend internal editorial meetings and relevant OA meetings to keep abreast with programs and developments

 

Skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Proven knowledge of or experience in the STM/HSS publishing business
  • Experience of books publishing or Open Access an advantage
  • Excellent communication and numeracy skills with proven attention to detail
  • Well-organized, proactive and with a customer-centric approach

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree educated or equivalent experience
