Locum Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Reviews Neurology

Fixed term Contract

Location: London, Berlin (Hybrid Working)

Closing date: 21st August 2022

Nature Reviews Neurology has a vacancy for a Locum Associate or Senior Editor, on full-time fixed term contract basis.

Nature Reviews Neurology publishes authoritative and accessible Reviews, Perspectives, Comments and Research Highlights covering a wide range of topics relating to the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and management of neurological diseases.

This exciting role is busy and varied. The successful candidate will work closely with the in-house journal team, and liaise directly with the journal’s internationally renowned contributors. Key tasks include commissioning, editing manuscripts and organizing peer review, and writing Research Highlights or other editorial content. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding the journal’s links within the neurology research community, and will need to keep abreast of the literature across a range of subject areas. A key aspect of the role is liaising with the research community through laboratory visits and international conferences. Therefore, a willingness to travel (when appropriate and required) and meet scientists worldwide, learn more about them and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the articles we seek to publish, is essential.

Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant biomedical or biological science degree to PhD level; a demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language; and experience that indicates a proactive approach and excellent organizational skills.

Although all candidates will be considered, preference will be given to those with previous editorial experience and/or a background in a field related to neurology. A broad interest in science, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to absorb new areas of research are essential. Training will be provided, but previous editorial experience will be an advantage.
