Editorial Board Engagement Specialist

 We are excited to offer an opening to join our vibrant and innovative editorial board engagement team at Springer Nature.

 

Academic editors are a key driving force for journals; contributing scientific expertise and advocacy, while enabling journal growth and improving the quality of published research. Though some publishing experience is preferred, this is a dynamic learning environment that will provide exceptional support and you will have the scope to define and contribute as you develop and grow into the role. As an  editorial board engagement specialist you will produce detailed analyses on journal performance, existing editorial boards and journal recruitment needs that will guide the future journal development.

  

You will be working closely with Editors in Chiefs (EiCs), journal publishing colleagues and our technology partners to create robust and scalable processes that aid the identification and on boarding of suitable editors to join our boards, and provide oversight onto their ongoing performance for the journals they are associated with. As the editorial board engagement specialist you will contribute to both the development and implementation of the framework that supports this initiative.  

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Your focus is to ensure that journals are resourced to meet their publishing goals and objectives.
  • You will analyse performance of scientific journals and their research fields, and produce detailed assessments of journal resourcing needs and priorities. 
  • Support journal EiCs and journal publishing colleagues in EBM attraction and engagement by developing and implementing tools and services to help them identify editorial board members based on agreed criteria in a data driven way
  • Work with the analytics team to support scalable tools and systems for external editor identification
  • With our reporting and technology partners create a scalable performance management process that our internal teams can use to optimise the performance of editorial boards.
  • With the external editor support team and the journals publishing teams create a normalised on boarding experience for our EiCs and EBMs.
  • Work closely with the Snapp team and Head of Editorial Support to inform the development of an External Editor Database

  

 

Experience, Skills & Qualification requirements:

  • Scientific publishing experience, with a good understanding of the manuscript handling process
  • A passion for science and an understanding of the research environment and the needs of researcher
  • Experience of communication with external editors and internal stakeholders
  • Experience in supporting new processes
  • Proven background in data analysis
