The Cyber Security Team is responsible for the monitoring, vulnerability management, assurance, security architecture, infrastructure, and the secure development lifecycle within Springer Nature.

 

Security Engineer (Zero Trust):

 

The purpose of this role is to provide, design and support for a newly created Zero Trust Network Architecture. You will collaboratively support and improve complex implementations while continuously evaluating and making recommendations for improvements. Meet with Customers/Teams to identify requirements for ZTNA projects as well as support the ongoing transition and decommissioning activities at a global scale.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support on design decisions regarding Zero Trust Networking for our various platforms.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, identity, engineering teams and the wider platform engineering teams to set up best in class cloud platforms.
  • Help drive automation of our access solutions and reporting of our controls and governance.
  • Supply technical expertise for all aspects of Zero Trust Network Architecture, including onboarding, design of policies, implementation governance.
  • Create and Adhere standards and provide governance to contribute to process improvement.
  • Find and escalate dependencies, risks and exceptions that will affect implementation of technical artefacts.
  • Share knowledge with peers to contribute to the skills growth of knowledge.
  • Liaising with the internal Security Operations Center for incident management.
  • Supporting the rollout of a large scale Bring Your own Device (BYOD) and Remote Working solution.


Experience:

  • At least 5 years IT and SOC experience.
  • Diverse organisational structure (where relevant)
  • Working knowledge of SIEM/SOAR, Network Security (Firewall, Secure Web Gateways, etc.), EDR, MTD, CASB, SASE, real-time decision systems, and policy engines are a plus.
    • Specifically Netskope, zScaler etc.


Skills/Knowledge:

  • Collaborate with other teams on driving the definition and implementation of the Zero Trust solution.
  • Cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid cloud strategy, migration, and security.
  • Be a hands-on engineer; ensure software built is well designed, with high quality.
  • Ensure security is engraved into our solutions.
  • Work effectively in a geographically distributed team.
  • Network security, segmentation, micro-segmentation strategy, design, and implementation.
  • Assist clients with the adoption of modern network infrastructure capabilities (i.e., Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP), Software-Defined Networks (SDN), visibility fabric, etc.).
  • Participate in cybersecurity assessments based on leading frameworks (i.e., Center for Internet Security (CIS), Zero Trust, etc.)
  • Implementation of ZTNA solutions supporting Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Remote Working solutions would be beneficial.


Qualifications:

  • Computer Science degree.
  • Networking certification.
  • Vendor certification in one of the skills/knowledge set.
