Data Manager (Product- and Metadata Team)


We, the Product- and Metadata Team (PDM) are the owners of bibliographic data in our production systems. We constantly strive to improve the quality of our data and delivery methods to internal and external customers. To achieve this, we work in close collaboration with our agile development teams.

To expand our capabilities, we are looking for a Data Manager that is responsible for large scale bibliographic data and can help us in our goal to improve the quality, accessibility and workflows related to our products. The scope of tasks involves designing and implementing new features for data streams in our systems, as well as consolidations, cleanups, enrichments and reporting.



  • Manage projects with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate continuous development of journal and book metadata
  • Design new features for our data management systems in collaboration with our agile development teams
  • Initiate data accuracy projects, conduct data cleanup activities and facilitate implementation of data validations
  • Create reports and data monitoring tools
  • Handle day-to-day coordination of data operations (such as ISBN/ISSN allocation) in collaboration with our team in Pune, India


  • Deep knowledge of spreadsheet applications (MS Excel, Google Sheets) or similar tools to handle tabular data
  • Experience with handling large scale data sets
  • Understanding of bibliographic metadata and industry experience is beneficial
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and XML structures is desirable
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a global environment
  • English language fluent in word and writing
  • German language skills are an advantage
