Locum - Operations Manager - Associate/Senior

Purpose of the Role  

    
The Senior Technology and Implementation Manager is responsible for ensuring that the overall co-ordination, functionality and implementation of all tools pertaining to content retention are managed and developed effectively. 

 

Core activities include the managing of transfer operations on Transfer Desk, budgeting and performance tracking, and product development in close collaboration with our technical teams.


Responsibilities 


Managing Transfer Desk Operations:

 

  • Co-ordinate the roll-out and implementation of new initiatives on Transfer Desk
  • Optimise and improve workflows, reporting and tools around our transfer services, by developing and testing new ideas and implementing best-practice. Align workflows and processes with the strategic direction of the business, and manage alignment with all internal stakeholders.
  • Work with stakeholders (especially colleagues at SN-TPS and Technology) to ensure the goals of the team are met and that we can reliably implement new initiatives and pilots
  • Setting up systems and workflow tools to support all parts of the process.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper quality assurance by coordinating the process and reporting on results.
  • Managing role and implementation changes for the Global Transfer Desk team

 

Budgeting and performance tracking:
`

  • Monitoring and reporting on the output of the Global Transfer Desk team
  • Use a data-driven approach to model submissions and publications arising through transfers
  • Collaborate with MRPA and publishing teams to translate transfers into predicted accepts and publications
  • Assist in setting up operational and business reporting metrics within the team and across the research divisions for transfers
  • Work closely with colleagues at SN-TPS in order to ensure resourcing is adequate to ensure optimal timing and quality performance 
  • Maintain internal records and manuals

 

Product development:

 

  • Act as the first point of contact and trusted interface between Submissions and Author Services team and other key teams (e.g. PP&I CoE, SN-TPS, Analytics Centre of Excellence, MRPA, Publishing Operations).
  • Work with technical and operational teams to build and improve the submission and transfer experience for our authors. 
  • Develop a leading voice representing Submissions and Author Services as part of the development of Snapp
  • Define, implement and manage projects and initiatives that aim to support content retention and drive transfers in specific areas of the business
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for the Director, Submissions and Author Service

Experience, Skills & Qualifications


Experience


●    Considerable experience at Publishing Manager level (or equivalent) in STM publishing or science communication


Skills/knowledge


●    Strong project management skills, with confidence and ability to lead projects and chair meetings 
●    Strong analytical and technical skills 
●    Customer focused (both internal and external)
●    Relationship building / teamwork (incorporating Communication, Influencing and Trust)

●    Thorough understanding of the scientific process as it pertains to STM publishing

Qualifications    

 
●    Good graduate degree in the sciences or equivalent experience in Publishing/Operations
