We are seeking a Product Manager with analyst experience to help manage and evolve Springer Nature’s core Journals and eBook business models and products, so they continue to align customer needs and our commercial objectives.

You’ll join the Business Development and GTM team, which is part of Marketing Strategy. This position offers an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Springer Nature’s institutional products and deliver value for our customers.


The role of the product manager is to:

  • support development of product strategies;

  • focus on Journal and eBook products targeting Academic, Government and Corporate segments;

  • become a key business partner for Research Sales and Marketing and first port of call for product-related inquiries;

  • monitor success of established products, including identifying opportunities for improvements in terms of value proposition, and market opportunities; and

  • project coordination.


Business model development includes leveraging customer and market insights and analytics to define the Product/Market Fit of new and existing business models, to maximise mid-term revenue. This includes Project Management from conception through implementation and launch to review and maintenance.

  • Support the development and execution of product strategies
  • To maintain and develop institutional licensing business models
  • Develop a good understanding of customer problems and pain points, actively seeking opportunities to analyse and validate your understanding
  • Become a key business partner for Research Sales and Marketing teams and first port of call for product-related inquiries
  • Support product decisions using quantitative data and analyse metrics to continually improve products while developing and overseeing projects.
  • Manage various product-related tasks like administration of product title lists, and ad hoc requests.
  • Maintain existing processes and workflows and automate where possible
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the successful implementation and communication of business models i.e. with Sales Operations, Sales and Marketing
  • Keep up to date with stakeholders to understand the strategy of the portfolio and monitor the success of established products
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives alongside the rest of the team
  • Continuously improve performance and deliver on team’s Objectives and Key Results

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in customer-centric market analytics and business model design preferable
  • Prior experience in analyst role and/or product development and management
  • Able to use a range of product management principles and approaches
  • STM market knowledge and/or experience in adjacent markets is beneficial



  • Expertise in applying commercial logic and analytical skills to solve product-related challenges
  • Able to apply a build, measure, learn approach appropriately
  • Able to focus on outcomes, not just solutions
  • Able to understand when/how to balance user needs and business needs
  • Capable of working with a range of specialists in multidisciplinary teams
  • Able to leverage stakeholders’ experience, expertise and perspectives, and to work with and challenge stakeholders appropriately
  • Able to build effective relationships through positive communication that motivates and influences others
  • Able to understand and work constructively within the given constraints, but also to identify which constraints can be challenged and how to challenge them effectively
  • Able to take responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes, and actively seek out opportunities to create effective change
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Business proficiency in English needed



  • University education (MBA preferrable) or equivalent demonstrable experience with focus on product innovation and/or market analytics, with a quantitative focus
