As a subsidiary of Springer Nature, we are hiring an Account Development Manager in China, to support the continuous growth of our B2B business growth and account development, along with the entire growth team members.

Our ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for driving fast growth of B2B revenue from both existing accounts and developing new accounts, through strong collaboration with internal and external partners. The person needs to have an in-depth understanding of scientific research and extensive experience in academic or institutional sales. In this role, the person will work closely with universities, academic/scientific institutions, and journal publishers to promote and sell AJE services and products, ultimately aiding in our mission to make research communication faster, fairer, and more useful.

 

Key tasks:

  • Develop the existing B2B accounts to further grow the revenue through upselling and cross-scelling the AJE services and products
  • Acquire new B2B accounts in the segment of universities, institutions, departments, labs, corporate and journal publishers.
  • Manage the sales leads within CRM, and move them through the sales funnel till the closure of the deals, and report on the most updated pipeline status regularly
  • Initiate and be responsible for the account onboarding processes
  • Maintain a strong relationship with accounts by providing all added-value services, timely accurate reports and solving issues for account growth and retention, through working seamlessly with Marketing team and Customer Support team
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners (incl. sales teams of the broader organization) to implement the growth strategy and strengthen the relationship with customers
  • Attend industry events, conferences and make on-site visits to clients as needed and required
  • Monitor and report policies, trends and market intelligence that have impacts on revenue growth and business opportunities in China

 

Key relationships:

This role will report to the General Manager, Greater China, and will work closely with the other Account Managers, Customer Marketing Manager, Author Education Manager, Product team, and Customer Support team located in China and US.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Proficient level of spoken and written English and Chinese

  • Strong commercial acumen and sales-oriented in maximizing revenue and business development
  • Know how to initiate and maintain long lasting relationship with key persons in the local scientific community, through strong interpersonal skills and diplomatic communication skills
  • High integrity and honesty, and highly self-motivated
  • Have the mindset of ownership and be able to work and solve problems independently
  • Open minded to collaborate with colleagues from local to global offices and across functional teams
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally if needed

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in sales, preferably working in the STM publishing, academic and scientific research related sector
  • A strong understanding and previous experience in the institution selling is a plus
